How To Share Your WhatsApp QR Code

If you use WhatsApp on a desktop, switch to your mobile device to find and share the app.

These instructions are identical for Android and iOS devices:

  1. Open WhatsApp.
  2. Tap the three-dot button in the upper-right corner of your screen.
  3. Tap Settings from the drop-down menu.
  4. Tap the green QR code icon in the upper-right corner of your screen.
  5. Tap the Share button in the upper-right corner of your screen.
  6. Tap an app or contact to share your QR code.

How To Reset Your WhatsApp QR Code

Your WhatsApp QR code is public, so anyone can scan it and send you a message. If you put your QR code out in the wild, as we did in this article, you’ll want to reset it.

Resetting your QR code renders any previously generated QR codes invalid.

  1. Open WhatsApp.
  2. Tap the three-dot button in the upper-right corner of your screen.
  3. Tap Settings from the drop-down menu.
  4. Tap the green QR code icon in the upper-right corner of your screen.
  5. Tap the three-dot button in the upper-right corner of your screen.
  6. Tap Reset QR Code from the drop-down window.
  7. Confirm the action in the pop-up window by tapping Reset.
